"Do Something" This Summer

Help children buy school supplies

With thoughts turned toward summer and vacation time, it seems odd to think about the kids going back to school already. For more than 11 million kids in the U.S. living below the poverty line, August and September will come quickly and they won’t be able to afford the basic supplies they need to do well in school.

Staples, DoSomething101.org and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks have joined together to develop Do Something 101, a national campaign led by teens nationwide designed to empower other teens to take action and collect school supplies to support underserved children this summer. All they need to do is collect and donate new supplies like pencils, spiral notebooks and folders and drop them off at any Staples store during July and August. Staples will ensure they are delivered to the kids who need them most.

Just click on DoSomething.org to find out the 11 most-needed supplies and how your teen can run their own supply drive. This is also a great resume-builder for older teens who will be applying to colleges this year.

So, let’s all Do Something great this summer and make a difference in some childrens' lives!
